In 1999, the Australian women’s footballteam needed to raise funds for the team, by posing nude for a calendar. The Matildas – which included players Tracie McGovern, Sunni Hughes, Kim Revell, Alison Foreman, Sharon Black, Cheryl Salisbury, Alicia Ferguson, Katrina Boyd, Sarah Cooper, Traci Bartlett and Bridgett Starr. Although there was some backlash at the concept, the ‘tastefully presented’ calendar sold well in Australia and was largely considered a success at the time.
